- ➤ The family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Jefferson County DHR and Covenant Services after their 3-year-old boy died in a hot car in Birmingham on July 22—he was left unattended for over five hours during a heat advisory and found unresponsive at 6:03 p.m. The driver was arrested on Aug. 1 and the case remains under investigation.
