ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A multi-vehicle crash on Highway 43, just south of Highway 171 in Northport at 12:39 p.m. Wednesday killed Tuscaloosa postal worker Voncelle Renee Gamble, 36—three others were treated for minor injuries as investigators from the Northport Police Department’s Traffic Reconstruction Unit examined the scene.  AL.com

  • A well-known fast food spot on 15th Street is open again after seasoned franchise owner Sedrick Turner bought the location to save local jobs. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tuscaloosa opened its new Fire Station 6 on Hargrove Road East Thursday morning, replacing a 50-year-old station to boost safety and cut response times. City leaders said the 11,500-square-foot facility includes three bays—providing modern amenities, living space for a battalion chief, and an on-site storm shelter for emergencies.  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • Mayor Walt Maddox said the McWright’s Ferry Road extension is nearly 95% complete and will ease heavy traffic by August — the project began in February 2023 and is funded by the Tuscaloosa County Road Commission — as the city works to improve transportation.  Tuscaloosa Thread
