EDUCATION NEWS

  • Blitz Week will run from today until Thursday as the United Campus Workers of Alabama and Friends of the Union ask UA workers to join the union and support a living wage campaign that calls for a $5000 cost-of-living raise and a $20 minimum wage. The events include a 6 p.m. meeting in ten Hoor Hall, table displays outside the Student Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — a poster-making social at Riverwalk on Wednesday and a rally on Thursday — to build the union base.  The Crimson White

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The House approved an amended version of a bill that would let injured teachers keep their salary for up to 90 days and help pay for medical expenses. The bill, sponsored by Senator Sam Givhan, passed unanimously in the Senate in February and now awaits further approval from lawmakers.  WBRC

SPORTS NEWS

  • Sports writer Anna Snyder and her sister Emily watched Alabama softball on Saturday at Rhoads Stadium from the Brickyard, enjoying their first spectator experience in a sold-out crowd. They arrived a bit late but still enjoyed the lively atmosphere—complete with snacks, cheering fans, and a dramatic two-run home run that kept everyone engaged until the final out.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • No. 10 Alabama baseball lost four to two to Mississippi State on Sunday—dropping its overall record to 29 wins and 8 losses and its SEC mark to 8 wins and 7 losses. The Crimson Tide will meet UAB tomorrow at 6 p.m. CT—setting up a crucial contest after the loss.  The Tuscaloosa News
