  • Toys for Tots is handing out gifts today in Tuscaloosa (at local community centers) as volunteers work to bring holiday cheer to families in need.  WBRC
  • The Tuscaloosa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta will host Steppin’ into Greatness, a HBCU Homecoming Tribute and scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, Mar. 7 at Tuscaloosa River Market (1900 Jack Warner Pkwy). The event will support students and honor HBCU traditions.  Tuscaloosa Thread

  • Tuscaloosa officials announce that artists and musicians must apply by January 9 for next year’s Druid City Arts Festival in April and Live at the Plaza concerts held Friday nights in May and June at Government Plaza; a $25 fee is required for artist booths.  Tuscaloosa Thread

  • University of Alabama has launched a national search for a new provost; a feedback survey closes Jan. 10 and candidate recruitment runs from January through March 2026, with campus visits planned in late spring and the appointment expected in summer.  The University of Alabama

  • Former Alabama and NFL quarterback AJ McCarron ended his bid for lieutenant governor today to pursue a new football opportunity, with details to be shared later this week.  WBRC

  • Alabama women’s basketball beat Sam Houston 73-36 at Coleman Coliseum Tuesday night, extending their unbeaten streak to 12-0 despite missing starter Essence Cody (injured lower-leg). The team is set to face Tulane on Dec. 18 at 4:00 p.m. CT.  Tuscaloosa Thread
