- ➤ Bird watchers in the UA community will join the Audubon Christmas Bird Count on Monday, Dec. 15 from 8 a.m. until sundown in Tuscaloosa quadrants; after counting, volunteers will meet at a member's home for official compilation (contact Dr. Stephen Ritchie for more information). - ➤ Buc-ee’s has not confirmed a new Alabama location even though the chain will open sites in Ohio, Arizona and other states in 2026 and beyond — the closest new stop is in Monroe County, Georgia. The Tuscaloosa News

- ➤ Scrooge The Musical, an adaptation of A Christmas Carol, will open Friday, Dec. 12 at the Bean-Brown Theatre at Shelton State Community College. - ➤ On Nov. 20, the UA Graduate School announced winners of the 2025 Three-Minute Thesis competition, honoring research in artificial intelligence, personal relationships and health. Emma Kate Henry won first prize and will represent UA at the Council of Southern Graduate Schools regional finals in Baton Rouge in February. The University of Alabama
- ➤ SGA presidents from UA, UAB and UAH met on UA campus this November to share ideas and build collaboration. They focused on wellness — academic support and plans to improve student life for over 70,000 students. The University of Alabama
- ➤ University of Alabama alumni are raising funds to support two student magazines suspended last week for not following DEI guidelines, with a goal of $25,000 by spring 2026 for printing, salaries and rental costs. - ➤ University of Alabama senior Addison Miller was chosen as one of 43 Americans to receive the Marshall Scholarship to study for a master's in politics and international relations in the United Kingdom; the Birmingham native will attend University College London this term (making her the fourth UA recipient since 2020).
