CRIME NEWS

  • Alabama Cold Case Advocacy has announced Operation Safe Return, a campaign that will put up static and digital billboards across the state to raise awareness for missing persons, including a case from Tuscaloosa. EDUCATION NEWS

  • A report from Research.com shows that for 2025-26 UAB leads Alabama colleges with 20,905 students, a 63% graduation rate and strong healthcare programs – key for students aiming for health careers. Auburn and UAH follow with 34,145 and 8,564 students respectively, while The University of Alabama and Alabama State complete the top five – each offering different academic strengths.  ABC 33/40

HEALTH NEWS

  • Student veterans from Alabama and Auburn University are hiking 50 miles as part of Operation Iron Ruck to raise awareness of veteran suicide; the trek, which began at Saban Field's Walk of Champions, will end in Auburn today. Each veteran carries 22 pounds of supplies and 22 dog tags—each tag stands for a veteran lost to suicide daily.  ABC 33/40

  • Alabama defensive back Cam Calhoun was ejected from the Iron Bowl for targeting at 5:54 in the second quarter — he hit Auburn quarterback Ashton Daniels while Alabama led 17-0. He will miss the rest of the game — he is eligible to return in the next contest, whether it is the SEC championship or a bowl game.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Alabama high school football enters its postseason finale as the AHSAA Super 7 championship games are set for Dec. 3-5 at Protective Stadium in downtown Birmingham—featuring flag football titles on Dec. 3 and multiple finals on Dec. 3, 4 and 5. The match-ups include teams such as Montgomery Catholic, Moody, Central-Phenix City and Vestavia Hills that will compete to decide state champions.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Tickets for the SEC Championship game between Alabama and Georgia will be available for purchase for the Dec. 6 matchup at 4 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.   • Alabama did not flinch during the Iron Bowl as quarterback Ty Simpson hit Isaiah Horton on fourth down to secure a 27-20 win over Auburn—head coach Kalen DeBoer praised the team’s quick play as they prepare for the SEC championship game on December 6 at 4:00 p.m. This win reflects Alabama’s strength in critical moments after a challenging start to the season.  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • Alabama will play Auburn in the Iron Bowl on Saturday night with tight end Josh Cuevas and running back Kevin Riley ruled out, and quarterback Reese confirmed after Germie Bernard and Parker Brailsford were returned to the roster — changes that may affect the Crimson Tide’s game plan.
