- ➤ The University of Alabama’s Beat Auburn Beat Hunger food drive set a record by collecting 630,624 pounds of food for the West Alabama Food Bank—helping residents facing high food insecurity. The announcement was made at a celebration where it was also revealed that together with Auburn’s drive, they raised over 1.2 million pounds of food. ABC 33/40

- ➤ Curry High School students held a balloon release on Friday morning to honor senior Wesson Lane, who was hit by a car near Planet Fitness on Tuesday evening, placed on palliative care, and later pronounced dead on Saturday. WBRC

- ➤ Gov. Kay Ivey and House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter reacted after a Montgomery County Circuit Judge maintained a temporary restraining order on the AHSAA (+ they had sued to stop a rule that required student-athletes transferring under the CHOOSE Act to wait one year to play +). The order paused a new rule that Ivey said negatively impacted thousands of athletes. WBRC

- ➤ Alabama redshirt sophomore quarterback Austin Mack entered the Eastern Illinois game when he replaced Ty Simpson with 14:37 left in the third quarter and a 28-0 lead.
