  • After 55 years of repairing vehicles on the outskirts of downtown Tuscaloosa, Tillery's Body Shop & Wrecker Service will close later this week as owner James Tillery retires. Residents can visit Tillery Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to say goodbye.  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • Northport merchants will extend the shop-local Pink Friday event to two days — 20 local businesses will offer in-store giveaways, shop specials, and a passport program from Friday Nov 21 to Saturday Nov 22.   • UA homecoming week 2025 brought many events that showed strong school pride; students helped at Therapeutic Riding of Tuscaloosa (TROT) and enjoyed activities (from community service to the game) that created lasting memories.  The University of Alabama

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Alabama classes are dismissed Nov. 24-28 while many campus offices, including Automotive Services, Campus Mail, Counseling, and Student Health, remain open regular hours Nov. 24-26 (with housing, library, and transportation services operating on adjusted schedules), a free Thanksgiving meal is served on Nov. 27 and full campus service resumes Dec. 1.  The University of Alabama
  • Launched by the Honors College in 2023, Achieve Scholars is an 18-hour course sequence that combines transdisciplinary analysis and research methodology to help incoming freshmen build research and critical thinking skills—students work with instructors from Parsons and Claremont Graduate University and later present their work at UA’s URCA conference.  The University of Alabama

  • On Monday night, Alabama women’s basketball won 66-43 over Alabama A&M at Coleman Coliseum with strong defense and balanced scoring to start the season 4-0 for the third straight year. They will host the Samford Bulldogs today at 6 p.m.—aiming to extend their winning run.  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats challenged center Noah Williamson to get more rebounds and play more athletic as he prepared for Illinois yesterday at the United Center in Chicago—Oats said Williamson must use his strength to be more aggressive on offense and defense.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats said forward Keitenn Bristow (ankle) practiced in limited capacity and may be a game-time decision as the team prepares to face Illinois; he also said guard Davion Hannah should play while Jalil Bethea and center Collins Onyejiaka remain sidelined.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack praised sophomore defensive back Red Morgan for his strong performance against Oklahoma despite the Tide's 23-21 loss — noting that Morgan's improved tackling and athletic skills have made him a key player since his freshman year.  Tide 100.9
  • Alabama lost 23-21 to Oklahoma, and Jam Miller said that the run game showed progress but must improve on pass protection and hitting the holes—details he stressed as the team prepares for its next contest.   • Four-star forward Chris Washington Jr. decommitted from Alabama on Monday, leaving the Crimson Tide with only one commit in the 2026 class.   • Alabama basketball faces an Illinois team with five European players today at 8 p.m.—head coach Nate Oats said he is open to recruiting more international players despite financial challenges.
