ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Supporters gathered at Northridge High School Football Field at 1 p.m. Sunday to hold a balloon release in memory of Tuscaloosa native James Owens, Jr. — a Huntingdon College defensive lineman killed in a head-on collision on U.S. 82 near Maplesville on Nov. 10.  ABC 33/40

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Alabama announced a new School of Leadership and Policy that is the first new school in 60 years—classes will begin in fall and the school will join Tuscaloosa’s dozen existing colleges.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Morgan Grzybowski—senior biology major—was named 2025 Homecoming Queen Friday at the bonfire and pep rally by Crimson Tide announcer Chris Stewart. She beat four candidates and campaigned to raise awareness for Type 1 diabetes.  The Crimson White

  • On Saturday, Alabama lost 23-21 to Oklahoma at Bryant-Denny Stadium because turnovers and special teams errors cost the Tide the win—despite a strong performance from its defense. Coaches said the team will address these mistakes as it prepares for its next game.  Tide 100.9
  • The Tuscaloosa News opened a poll for Girls Athlete of the Week for Nov. 8-14 featuring top nominees from basketball, flag football, and cross country—voting will end at noon on Nov. 20.  The Tuscaloosa News
