- ➤ Supporters gathered at Northridge High School Football Field at 1 p.m. Sunday to hold a balloon release in memory of Tuscaloosa native James Owens, Jr. — a Huntingdon College defensive lineman killed in a head-on collision on U.S. 82 near Maplesville on Nov. 10. ABC 33/40
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Alabama announced a new School of Leadership and Policy that is the first new school in 60 years—classes will begin in fall and the school will join Tuscaloosa’s dozen existing colleges. The Tuscaloosa News
- ➤ Morgan Grzybowski—senior biology major—was named 2025 Homecoming Queen Friday at the bonfire and pep rally by Crimson Tide announcer Chris Stewart. She beat four candidates and campaigned to raise awareness for Type 1 diabetes. The Crimson White
