  • Al Wood, who lost his daughter to lung cancer, joins Mike Dubberly to discuss today's Legacy Run at Liberty Park — a fundraiser for the Amanda Pair Foundation — that honors her memory. The run — planned with care — will raise funds to support the foundation's work.  WBRC

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Black Friday in Alabama is set for Nov. 28 and shoppers can expect deals on electronics, furniture and fashion at local stores and online. Retailers began early discounts mid-October—some stores will be closed on Thanksgiving so buyers should check local hours.  The Tuscaloosa News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Historic Tuscaloosa will host the Tuscaloosa Cameo Guild Christmas Tea on December 14 at 4 p.m. at the Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion—an event offering Victorian crafts, parlor games, and treats while raising funds for a scholarship program and landmark restoration.  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • The University of Alabama homecoming parade will start today at 10 a.m. on Greensboro Avenue — Bob Hines will serve as grand marshal with floats and the Million Dollar Band as the route winds through downtown Tuscaloosa and turns onto University Boulevard. Other events include a pep rally and bonfire on the Quad on November 14 and the Alabama-Oklahoma football game today at 2:30 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium.  The Tuscaloosa News

  • The outdoor ice-skating rink at Government Plaza in Downtown Tuscaloosa will open on November 24 and run until January 1, 2026—offering free holiday fun for all ages during the city’s Holidays on the Plaza event.  Tuscaloosa Thread

HEALTH NEWS

  • Alabama food safety inspectors are checking stores today to remove ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula cans that were recalled on November 11 due to potential contamination linked to infant botulism. After inspecting 93 stores, inspectors removed 57 products from 10 locations — officials are now working with the CDC, FDA and Department of Public Health to protect infants.  ABC 33/40

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Thursday night, Purdue beat Alabama 87-80 in Tuscaloosa as Braden Smith scored 29 points with 21 in the second half. Purdue secured its first road win over a top-10 nonconference opponent since 1982 as Trey Kaufman-Renn added 19 points and 15 rebounds while Alabama kept the score close with six players making 10 three-point shots.  Alabama Public Radio
  • Alabama linebacker Qua Russaw, nursing a broken foot, and defensive back DaShawn Jones are set as game-time decisions for today’s 2:30 p.m. kickoff against No. 11 Oklahoma—if Russaw misses, redshirt sophomore Yhonzae Pierre will replace him, and if Jones does not play, sophomore Red Morgan is expected to rotate in.  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • Former Alabama coach Nick Saban said on the Pat McAfee Show he doubted his team's chance to win when star receiver Jaylen Waddle broke his leg in the 2020 season—Alabama bounced back to finish 13—0 and secure a national title.  Tide 100.9
  • Northside flag football made history with a 20—0 shutout win over Ramsay on Nov. 13 at Northside High School, advancing the team to the third round of the AHSAA playoffs. Sophomore Avery Patton led with 100 receiving yards and two interceptions as the team posted its best record at 18—1 and will face Moody next in the Class 1A-5A Elite Eight.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Nick Saban said that improving the offensive line and using early throws—designed to catch opponents off-guard—could help fix Alabama’s run game that ranks near the bottom nationally. Alabama will face Oklahoma today at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC, and Saban sees the change as a simple fix ahead of the contest.  The Tuscaloosa News
