  • A local law firm is hosting a food drive today to collect donations for people in need. The drive offers a drop-off point for non-perishable items + aims to boost local support.  WBRC

  • The Tuscaloosa City School system is preparing food boxes for school families who will lose SNAP benefits today—New Heights Community Resource Center is tripling its food order to supply items like pasta, cereal, and frozen produce for up to three weeks of meals.   • On October 30, Tuscaloosa held a ribbon cutting to open the new Northridge Pickleball Courts that offer eight courts, a 46-space parking lot, upgraded lighting and security cameras—local leaders designed the facility for safe community play.   • Educator Isaiah Harper Jr. at Tuscaloosa Career & Technology Academy was named the Drummond Company Teacher of the Month. With 12 years of teaching experience and a background in television, he will use the $1,000 award to buy new props and studio materials to boost his media production classes—enhancing real-world learning for his 9th to 12th grade students.  ABC 33/40

  • On October 30, Tuscaloosa held a ribbon-cutting to open the new Northridge Pickleball Courts, attended by Mayor Walt Maddox, Councilor Norman Crow, and the Park and Recreation Authority Director.   • A federal judge in Boston expressed doubt over the plan to suspend SNAP benefits and will rule later Thursday on using emergency funds during the shutdown.
