  • Today, Tuscaloosa County officials said the region has a strong economy and is working to improve education, mental health and workforce training with projects like the Saban Center construction and McWrights Ferry Road opening to retain UA students — officials noted rising budgets and population growth that reached about 242,000 with more gains expected by 2030.  ABC 33/40

SPORTS NEWS

  • Alabama football will face four games against teams with tough defenses — South Carolina, LSU, Oklahoma, and Auburn — that use weak offenses and strong defense tactics, posing a big challenge for offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb as the Tide chases a spot in the SEC Championship.   • Alabama reclaimed the top spot in the SEC Power Rankings after winning four consecutive games against ranked teams, reversing an earlier drop to eighth following a loss to Florida State.
