  • Professional paddlers, Alabama legislators, and volunteers gathered at Weiss Lake to begin the 2025 Great Alabama 650 race on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m.—a 650-mile endurance event hosted by Jakes on the Lake and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. Racers must reach the first checkpoint at Coosa River Adventures in Downtown Wetumpka by Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. to continue in solo and tandem team divisions.  ABC 33/40
  • Alabama will play Vanderbilt at 2:30 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium today. Defensive tackle James Smith will miss the first half due to a targeting penalty from the last game while Jah-Marien Latham, Jeremiah Beaman and Qua Russaw remain sidelined, and Vanderbilt has several players unavailable with one pending a game-time decision.  Tide 100.9
  • Alabama football fan Gabby Mathis won a nearly $300K prize during the College GameDay field goal contest on Oct.4th before the Crimson Tide game against Vanderbilt—her memorable chance came after co-hosts Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit encouraged her despite a missed kick.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Alabama will miss defensive tackle James Smith for the first half of today's 2:30 p.m. game against Vanderbilt at Bryant-Denny Stadium after he incurred a targeting penalty last weekend (the report also notes other players are confirmed out for the season or game time).   • At College GameDay today, a fan held a 'SABAN IS SEXY' sign before the Tide faced Vanderbilt and Miss Terry said I think it is correct when asked about the sign—later she tossed pepperoni rolls to students on The Quad and received a sign reading Vandy fears Miss Terry.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Jam Miller rushed 136 yards and scored a touchdown in his first home game of the 2025 season—helping Alabama win 30-14 over Vanderbilt—and he said offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb challenged the run game to boost the team's performance.  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • Alabama football OT Kadyn Proctor ran the ball for a 2-yard gain that led to a key field goal in the 30-14 win over Vanderbilt—his new role as a ball carrier was designed in practice and marked by a move he had not done before. He said the play was his idea and he adjusted to carry the ball with an arm brace—adding a fresh tactic to his usual blocking work.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Former Heisman Trophy winner and College Gameday host Desmond Howard said on Saturday that Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson played his way into the Heisman conversation after posting a 70% completion rate, 11 touchdown passes, and no turnovers against Florida State—Alabama will face Vanderbilt today at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC while also benefiting from the return of running back Jam Miller, the team’s second-leading rusher last season.  Tide 100.9
