- ➤ Professional paddlers, Alabama legislators, and volunteers gathered at Weiss Lake to begin the 2025 Great Alabama 650 race on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m.—a 650-mile endurance event hosted by Jakes on the Lake and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. Racers must reach the first checkpoint at Coosa River Adventures in Downtown Wetumpka by Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. to continue in solo and tandem team divisions. ABC 33/40
- ➤ Alabama will play Vanderbilt at 2:30 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium today. Defensive tackle James Smith will miss the first half due to a targeting penalty from the last game while Jah-Marien Latham, Jeremiah Beaman and Qua Russaw remain sidelined, and Vanderbilt has several players unavailable with one pending a game-time decision.
