CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Four UA student bands will perform on Oct. 11 from noon to 5 p.m. at Druid City Social in Tuscaloosa to raise funds for the Student Government Association's Joe Espy Needs-Based Scholarship— the winning band will receive a cash prize and the new Joe Espy trophy, and attendees may vote using QR codes while watching the Alabama/Missouri game on large screens. - ➤ The University of Alabama is waiving application fees for domestic and international undergraduate, graduate, and UA Online applicants during Free App Week from Oct. 6 to Oct. 10 — eligible students must complete their applications by Oct. 10 at 11:59 p.m. CDT to take advantage. - ➤ Geologists warn that Alabama faces earthquake risk, and past tremors such as a 4.8 quake near Tuscaloosa in 1999 show the area is not immune.
