- ➤ A lawsuit accused bus driver Samuel Lee Jones and the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education of abusing a non-verbal student with autism on January 29th as video evidence captured him striking the student multiple times while aides did not intervene—police arrested the 74-year-old driver on felony assault charges and the suit seeks redress under federal law. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tuscaloosa received a grant to build more sidewalks that will help improve pedestrian safety—city officials will soon begin finalizing design plans. WBRC
- ➤ A federal grant of $800k with $200k from city funds will pay for the Ash Street Sidewalk Project that will add nearly 800 feet of new sidewalk in a busy area—improving safety for pedestrians.
