- ➤ The Student Government Association introduced the Legends Punch Card program this semester to reward high-achieving students on the president’s or dean’s list by offering discounts at 28 local businesses including Innisfree Irish Pub—PopStroke and Scooter’s Coffee. - ➤ Tuscaloosa Police Department will offer a women's self defense class on October 9, 16, and 23 from 6–9 p.m. at police headquarters—trained officers will teach public safety skills that may help save lives. Tuscaloosa Thread
- ➤ Tuscaloosa received an $800,000 grant from the Federal Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program to build an 800-foot sidewalk on Ash Street that will connect the Benjamin Barnes YMCA and the McDonald Hughes Community Center — the project will also add two ADA-compliant parking spaces to boost pedestrian safety.
