  • Nearly 25 years after September 11, Alabama communities honor those lost with memorial events including a stair climb at Riverchase Galleria today—participants wear photos of fallen heroes to remember acts of bravery and sacrifice. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Big Sandy Elementary remembered those lost on 9/11 during a flag raising ceremony held on September 11—raising the American, Alabama state, and Freedom Flags and viewing a piece of Twin Towers debris that will be shared among classrooms this school year.   • Six student organizations filed appeals over block seating at Bryant-Denny Stadium after an outdated SGA Code of Laws was posted online. SGA officials said the binding rules were followed and updated the code Thursday—some senators plan reviews to prevent similar issues in the future.  The Crimson White

  • Data shows the median home listing price in Tuscaloosa County rose to $342,425 in July from June’s $335,000, with 324 new listings marking a 36.1% increase from last July (the homes average 1,939 square feet and cost $182 per square foot). These figures (collected by Realtor.com) apply only to houses for sale and exclude sold or new construction properties.  The Tuscaloosa News

  • On Wednesday night, Alabama's sophomore cornerback Zabien Brown said his coach Maurice Linguist helps him learn the game during (Hey Coach) as the team won 41-34 against Georgia with an interception.   • Alabama won a 73-0 game over ULM last Saturday by using three quarterbacks—Ty Simpson, Austin Mack, and Keelon Russell—each taking turns to boost performance, as coach Kalen DeBoer said that competition helps all players do their best.   • Isaiah Horton, a 6-foot-4 receiver for Alabama football, has gradually shown his potential after returning from a hip injury and scoring a touchdown in an earlier game.
