ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Cottondale woman died after her Harley-Davidson motorcycle left the roadway and hit a guardrail on I-59 four miles south of Tuscaloosa at 6:05 p.m. Friday, and she was airlifted to UAB Hospital where she later died.  CBS 42

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ryan Williams suffered a concussion in Alabama's season opener against Florida State—he was hit by two defenders—and did not play in the game against Louisiana Monroe last Saturday; head coach Kalen DeBoer said he had been on the practice field.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Fans enjoyed the lively atmosphere inside and outside Bryant-Denny Stadium during the home opening game against ULM yesterday — photos captured families, players, and game day costumes that showed strong local support.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Austin Mack, a redshirt sophomore with one game experience for Alabama, entered the ULM matchup with 11:38 left in the second quarter — replacing Ty Simpson as Alabama held a 28-0 lead — and he previously threw a touchdown pass in a 52-7 win over Mercer while following coach Kalen DeBoer from Washington.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams missed Saturday’s game vs. Louisiana Monroe at Bryant-Denny Stadium—he is in concussion protocol after suffering a concussion during the Tide’s week 1 loss at Florida State.  WBRC
  • Yesterday, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson set school history by completing 17 straight passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns in a perfect first half against ULM—he built a 42-0 lead and also scored an 8-yard touchdown run.
