  • Tuscaloosa’s 22nd annual Canine Classic 5K will take place on Saturday, September 27 at Cardinal Park at Tuscaloosa National Airport to benefit the Humane Society of West Alabama; race packets can be picked up at the downtown YMCA on Friday, September 26 or on race day at 7:00 a.m. with the run starting at 8:00 a.m.—the $25 entry fee gives early registrants a T-shirt, swag bag and a door prize drawing chance.  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • DorAnn, Inc. launched its Hygiene Access — Survivor Care Kit Initiative to give basic hygiene supplies and local support details to middle and high school students and underserved families in West Alabama. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 38-year-old woman died when the 2002 GMC Yukon she was riding in left the road — hitting an embankment and a utility pole — near Cedar Cove Loop Road in Tuscaloosa County early Saturday morning; troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are investigating the crash.  CBS 42

  • Officials launched an investigation after an inmate died at a county jail in Tuscaloosa County — they are reviewing the circumstances to determine what led to the death.  WBRC
