  • Police arrested three men (Christopher Andrew Pearson, Timothy Drake Hodo, and Isaac Hugh Bonner) on multiple felony drug charges after a Dodge Durango was pursued on U.S. Highway 82 into Duncanville on Aug. 12 when officers saw drugs and a handgun thrown from the vehicle.  The Tuscaloosa News

  • Yesterday, I Dream Big Charter School began classes for sixth through eighth graders on the campus of Stillman College in Tuscaloosa—principal Lucretia Prince and teachers guided students on the first day.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Research shows that getting 8 to 9 hours of sleep helps students remember what they learn—Dr. Adam Knowlden from the University of Alabama said students should follow a regular sleep schedule and avoid phone use at night.   • Tuscaloosa has filed a lawsuit against Alabama’s Department of Revenue over online sales tax rules—city officials and Tuscaloosa City Schools argue the current SSUT system drains funds needed for schools, public safety, and road repairs.   • Alabama law bans holding a phone at red lights since a stopped vehicle is still considered in motion—I legal phone use is only allowed via hands-free devices or when parked safely, except for calling 911.
