- ➤ Two companies in Alabama will close soon and affect more than 160 workers. The Russell Brands LLC Distribution Center in Alexander City will close on September 29th affecting 80 workers while the Federal-Mogul Motorparts LLC in Boaz will shut down on September 25th affecting 82 workers — the reasons for these closures are unknown. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Alabama held its summer commencement on Aug. 2 where 1,240 students graduated, with President Peter J. Mohler—who replaced Stuart R. Bell in July—leading his first ceremony. The graduates represent 22 countries, 42 states and 48 counties, and Mohler said the students' growth and success remains his top priority. The Tuscaloosa News
