  • Central Alabama will host many Fourth of July events with fireworks shows and family activities from July 2nd to July 4th. American Village will open its gates at 11 a.m. on July 4th and display a 9 p.m. fireworks show, while Vulcan Park and Museum, Smith Lake Park, Oak Mountain State Park, Homewood, Hueytown and Alabaster will offer celebrations with varied admission fees — each venue designed to mark the holiday — for residents to enjoy.  CBS 42

SPORTS NEWS

  • Xavier Griffin—a five-star linebacker from Georgia—committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide for the 2026 recruiting class, choosing the Tide over the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs after de-committing from USC in May.   • Xavier Griffin, a five-star linebacker from Gainesville, Georgia, has committed to join Alabama football’s 2026 recruiting class and will play his senior season at Gainesville High School—his choice brings the highest-rated high-school linebacker to Tuscaloosa since 2021.
