On Friday at about 4:15 p.m., a former employee fatally shot car detailer Roy Lamar Curry Jr. at a Texaco station near I-59/20 before stealing a vehicle—police tracked the car to Mississippi and arrested 22-year-old Tyshawn Laquan Thompson at 10:30 p.m. on the same day.

Tuscaloosa Police are searching for a missing 40-year-old woman, Linda Washington, who was last seen on June 6 on 43rd Court near Stillman Boulevard and Culver Road — she has black hair and brown eyes and police say her judgment may be impaired.

On Friday, after 42-year-old Roy Lamar Curry Jr. was fatally shot at a car detailing shop on Skyland Boulevard, Tuscaloosa police arrested former employee 22-year-old Tyshawn Laquan Thompson about 200 miles away near Batesville, Mississippi with US Marshall's Task Force assisting.

In Alabama there is no legal age for leaving children home alone even though the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends 12 is acceptable—other states set ages from 8 to 14 based on their own rules.
