GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Driver License Division announced updates for commercial drivers that require electronic DOT medical submissions starting June 23—instead of paper cards—and will have them check self-certification online. Starting July 1, the agency will update the CDL skills test with revised vehicle inspection and basic control skills steps to improve road safety.  AL.com
  • On Thursday, local leaders met at Northport City Hall to ask the state to buy the Black Warrior Parkway toll bridge—making it free—or build a new toll-free bridge that better serves the community.   • Today, peaceful No Kings protesters will gather at 2005 University Blvd. in Tuscaloosa from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — part of a statewide demonstration against federal policies and a planned military parade in Washington — to show their opposition to recent actions by the federal administration.  WBRC
