ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A twelve year old passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, died when a Chevrolet Colorado (2004) was hit by a Ford F150 (2014) driven by a sixteen year old on Romulus Road near Libby Road eight miles west of Northport on June 8, and several others were injured and taken to hospitals, troopers said. - ➤ The Coca-Cola Amphitheater will open next week and host live events for local audiences—officials said the new venue is expected to add to our entertainment options. WBRC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tuscaloosa City Council postponed the vote on a $150 million Sports Illustrated resort until June 24 after councilwoman Raevan Howard and councilman Norman Crow voted against it — the proposal now only requires a majority to pass. AL.com
- ➤ Today, Tuscaloosa broke ground on a new logistics building for the police department — valued at over $1 million — that gives officers a dedicated space separate from the fire service, with the facility set to be operational by the end of the year. ABC 33/40
- ➤ On Tuesday night, the Tuscaloosa City Council did not give unanimous support for the Sports Illustrated Resort as Councilors Raevan Howard and Norman Crow voted no—City Council President Kip Tyner said the council will reconvene on June 24 where only four yes votes are needed to finalize the deal.
