  • Authorities arrested 10 people in Tuscaloosa County in connection with a series of shootings—officials said the suspects are linked to several incidents and the investigation is ongoing.  WBRC
  • During a June 6 news conference, Tuscaloosa law enforcement linked a group to over $1 million in fraud and at least 10 shootings including one homicide as part of a yearlong investigation—cooperating with state, local and federal agencies.  The Tuscaloosa News

  • Alumnus J. Frank Barefield Jr. committed a $35 million gift that will rename the College of Arts and Sciences to the J. Frank Barefield Jr. College of Arts and Sciences — the UA System Board of Trustees approved the donation on June 6. The endowment will support research and teaching for more than 9,000 students across 80 programs.  ABC 33/40
