  • Habitat for Humanity Tuscaloosa dedicated a new home for the Riley family today, built with the help from over 200 women during its annual Women’s Build Initiative — the family will move in this weekend.  WBRC
  • United Memorial Park will soon debut a new storywalk featuring illustrated panels that share local tales and invite visitors to enjoy interactive reading. The installation offers families a fresh community space (details forthcoming).  WBRC

  • B&W Foods announced plans to open a Piggly Wiggly store in Five Points in fall (2026), featuring Tuscaloosa’s first full-service bakery, deli, floral and custom meat case to boost fresh food options locally.  ABC 33/40
  • Brandt LaPish will leave her role as Development Director at the under-construction Saban Center to return to the DCH Foundation as Vice President of Development—her leadership secured over $61 million for the center.   • The SEC Baseball Tournament is underway at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, running from May 19 until May 24. Today, Game 5 begins at 9:30 a.m. on SEC Network as teams vie in live competition.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Alabama offensive lineman William Sanders spoke on Tide 100.9 Tuesday morning about his back injury that kept him out of spring practice (he credited the strength and training staff with helping him recover) and said he expects to be ready by June for fall camp.  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • The SEC Baseball Tournament starts Tuesday in Hoover and runs until Sunday (featuring top MLB draft prospects like Justin Lebron and Ace Reese) as teams prepare for the MLB Draft set for July (featuring both high school and college players).  The Tuscaloosa News
