- ➤ Tuscaloosa resident Nancy Calvert filed a lawsuit in Clarke County Circuit Court against truck driver Andrii Dmyterko and his employers after her red Nissan Rouge was hit during a Tuesday morning crash on Highway 43 in Thomasville that killed Ashley Marie Springer McDonald and beloved coach Woodie Earl Beck III and injured four others—Calvert was left hanging upside down before bystanders rescued her and now seeks damages for her serious injuries. - ➤ Federal judges ruled Thursday that Alabama’s 2023 congressional map diluted Black voters’ strength and ordered the state to use a court-approved plan — a decision following earlier rulings against the Legislature.
