  • University of Alabama (UA) alumnus Michael Emerson, noted for Emmy-winning TV and stage roles, discussed his early experiences at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival during a recent APR Notebook interview. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tuscaloosa leaders broke ground on a $23 million runway extension at the airport Wednesday to support larger aircraft + spur future economic development. Construction will take 495 days with completion in 2027 as officials work toward commercial service and terminal upgrades.  ABC 33/40

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Alabama began summer construction yesterday, closing part of University Blvd. near the Quad and starting street resurfacing on Capstone Drive while fewer students were on campus. The work will continue over the summer season.  The Tuscaloosa News

  • Utz Quality Foods LLC is recalling several bags of Zapp’s and Dirty chips due to Salmonella concerns after a supplier alert gave a possible risk, although tests did not find the bacteria; local consumers are urged to discard the products & call 1-877-423-0149 for a refund.  AL.com
  • Utz Quality Foods, LLC recalled selected Zapp's and Dirty potato chips — produced with dry milk powder that may risk salmonella contamination — after safety testing raised concerns.
