- ➤ Alabama SSI recipients will receive their check on Friday, May 1 — Social Security payments will be issued on May 13, May 20 or May 27 based on birth dates, helping many cover early month expenses. The SSA follows its regular payment schedule for May. The Tuscaloosa News

- ➤ Alabama freshman running back EJ Crowell was sidelined this spring with a right leg injury and did not play in A-Day, but coach Kalen DeBoer said he will likely recover by June so he can join practice at Crimson Tide training. AL.com
- ➤ Ty Simpson, who started all 15 games for Alabama in 2025, was selected as the 13th overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2026 NFL draft and joins a quarterback room led by Matthew Stafford; Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer said Simpson’s move worked out well. The Tuscaloosa News

- ➤ The University Board approved a seven year contract extension for football coach Kalen DeBoer that pays him 12.5 million dollars a year after two seasons with the Crimson Tide. Former coach Nick Saban said he welcomed the move to add team stability. The Tuscaloosa News
- ➤ Coach Nate Oats is excited about a rebuilt roster that adds size and strength for the upcoming season. The team plans to add three freshmen and four transfers — including players from Kentucky and NC State — to improve defensive rebounding and boost its championship hopes. The Tuscaloosa News
