- ➤ A hotel restaurant scored one point below the mark to avoid immediate closure in a recent review. Management said they plan to quickly address issues to meet required standards and keep the business open. WBRC
- ➤ Microchip Technology opened a new 15,000 sqft manufacturing facility in Tuscaloosa on Monday, April 27 that makes parts for power grids, cell phone networks and satellites. The plant created about 30 new jobs. WBRC

- ➤ SAW The Musical, a horror parody blending dark humor and catchy tunes, was performed at the Historic Bama Theatre on April 28 — a one-night event that offered a fresh twist on an iconic tale. Tuscaloosa Thread
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Samory T. Pruitt, a professor at the University of Alabama, announced his retirement today. The news was released five hours ago and he will soon end his long career in education. WBRC
- ➤ University of Alabama announced a new School of Data Science that will offer certificate, undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs to teach artificial intelligence and data skills at its Tuscaloosa campus. - ➤ UA announced that Jesse Park, Colton Byrne and Katy Butler were selected as Goldwater Scholarship winners today. The prestigious award honors academic excellence and was reported by Gary Cosby Jr. The Tuscaloosa News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday night, Tuscaloosa leaders discussed an agreement with Umbrella Entertainment Group (Air Show Network) to kick-start planning for a revived air show at the city airport, though no final decision was reached. Authorities will review the proposal further amid hopes to boost tourism while addressing local concerns. ABC 33/40
