- ➤ Tuscaloosa city schools are piloting 'Raptor Alert' badges to boost student safety. Officials say the trial will continue over the coming weeks to see if the system helps staff respond faster & strengthen emergency protocols. WBRC
- ➤ Tuscaloosa City Schools are testing a new Raptor Alert Badge at Verner Elementary, Westlawn Middle, and Bryant High to help staff quickly get help during emergencies. Teachers press the button three times for medical concerns or seven times for security, and the system cost $136,000 from the general fund. WBRC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Attorney General Steve Marshall announced Tuesday, April 21 that Alabama reached a $12.2 million settlement with Roblox to improve online child safety by enforcing new age verification and chat rules for users under 16 (changes roll out May 1–Sept. 1). WBRC
- ➤ The Alabama Educational Television Commission voted to survey 600 viewers on keeping PBS programming on public television after Governor Kay Ivey urged a review for a potential break. The survey (costing $40,000) will support decisions as PBS remains on air until the current contract expires at the end of June. WBRC

- ➤ Three-star edge rusher Stevan Thornton III committed to Alabama Crimson Tide Tuesday night, joining the 2027 recruiting class. He posted his decision on social media and becomes the fifth recruit adding talent from Cairo High. Tuscaloosa Thread

Early Head Start Teacher
The Teacher is responsible to the Center Director for implementation, assessment; planning, and directives and guidelines of Head Start Performance Standards, Alabama Standards for Early Learning and Development and Alabama Department of Human Resources standards, and Agency standards. The Teacher is responsible for directing all volunteer activities in the classroom. At minimum, possession of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential and have training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development
