  • A huge crowd gathered for Morgan Wallen’s concert at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday evening, with excited fans sporting cowboy hats & boots. The event provided a lively atmosphere as community members enjoyed a memorable night.  The Tuscaloosa News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Stillman College announced that Earvin 'Magic' Johnson will deliver the keynote address at its Sesquicentennial Commencement Ceremony at Sheppard Lawn (the historic heart of campus) on Saturday, May 9 at 9 a.m. His address marks his first visit to Alabama amid the school’s 150-year celebration.  Tide 100.9

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Skywatchers in Tuscaloosa can enjoy the Eta Aquariids meteor shower starting tonight; it will peak on May 5 with 10-30 meteors visible before dawn in the Northern Hemisphere. A May 1 full moon may affect viewing, so choose a dark spot for the best view.  The Tuscaloosa News

  • Alabama's combo guard Davion Hannah, whose injuries limited his season to 10 games, entered the transfer portal this offseason. He becomes the fourth player on the men's basketball team to seek a transfer option.  Tide 100.9
  • Talladega spring NASCAR weekend starts Friday, Apr. 24 with ARCA and Xfinity practice and qualifying and continues with races on Saturday, culminating in the Cup Series race at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 26 at Talladega Superspeedway — forecasts predict highs in the 80s with rain chances.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • London Jemison (the freshman forward) will remain with Alabama basketball for the 2026-27 season after helping the Crimson Tide reach the Sweet 16 last season; he averaged 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds in 33 games and will join transfers and incoming freshmen in a revamped frontcourt.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Competitors overcame a challenging military style obstacle course in the Tuscaloosa Gauntlet race on April 18 at Sokol Park. Taylor Fabian and Courtney Washington led the competition as they navigated steep obstacles that tested their endurance.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Alabama lost its second SEC series to Texas after a 3-1 defeat in game two when the Longhorns scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Crimson Tide will try to break the series sweep in game three at 1 p.m. CT today.  Tide 100.9
