- ➤ Governor Ivey signed the 'Let the Kids Play!' Act on Tuesday to protect student athletes under the CHOOSE Act from being denied athletic eligibility (law effective immediately), giving them a way to challenge such decisions. ABC 33/40
- ➤ Central Alabama Water said it met state law by submitting a system-wide notice on March 12, countering the City of Birmingham’s challenge over removing fluoride. The utility argued that restarting fluoridation would cost at least $3.74 million (and take 315 days), and urged the court to dismiss further relief. ABC 33/40
- ➤ The Legislature passed Beau’s Law on April 14 and now sent it to Governor Ivey to set clear statewide rules for pet care — including proper shelter, food and water to align local and state standards. The law will increase penalties for repeat neglect cases. The Tuscaloosa News
