- ➤ Skeletal remains found in a wooded area in Tuscaloosa County are believed to be those of Marcus Skelton — a 47-year-old man reported missing in December 2024 from his New Lexington home who was last seen in May 2024 and had medical issues, with authorities now testing the remains to confirm his identity. - ➤ On Tuesday, the Tuscaloosa City Council proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and approved rezoning requests and two alcoholic beverage applications while Mayor Walt Maddox urged residents to help keep children safe and received support pins from Lisa Maddox. - ➤ Tuesday the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit ruled that Alabama’s anti-panhandling laws are unconstitutional and that begging is protected by the First Amendment (the decision was detailed in a 15-page brief).
