  • Over 150 UA students and local community members rallied at the Richard Shelby Federal Building and Courthouse Monday to support UA doctoral student Alireza Doroudi—who was arrested by ICE last Tuesday and has been held at the Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center.  The Crimson White
  • The Tuscaloosa Exchange Club hosted a child abuse prevention luncheon for first responders at its recent meeting and donated 600 trauma teddy bears to police and local hospitals. The group also provided 28 blue ribbons that will be placed on fire trucks to boost awareness + guide local support.  WBRC
  • Leadership Tuscaloosa's class hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a basketball court and pavilion at New Heights Community Resource Center as part of its community project. They have raised more than half of the $83,000 needed and still seek donations & supplies including concrete, excavating services, metal roofing & two garbage cans.  WBRC

  • Local leader Fitzgerald Washington was named to the nine member board of DCH Health System this week, replacing Dr. Linda Olivet who served since 2012.
