CULTURE NEWS

  • Local jazz band Dr. Warren Ertle’s Corpse Revivers offered a fresh twist by performing a ’40s set at North River Yacht Club today — shifting from their usual 1920s style to entertain the crowd.  The Tuscaloosa News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students and faculty at UA delivered a petition to the Rose Administration Building on Friday asking President Peter Mohler to reinstate Nineteen Fifty-Six and Alice magazines. The petition has collected over 3,000 signatures (it may lead to a new campus publication soon).  The Crimson White
  • The SGA Senate approved seating changes for student organizations and a move-out food drive for the West Alabama Food Bank during move-out at Barefield College Thursday night. The senate also revised the Code of Laws and allowed constitutional amendments on special election ballots.  The Crimson White

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local health officials warn that mosquito and tick season is starting soon and may cause serious illness from bites. Experts advise using EPA-registered repellent with DEET, wearing long sleeves & pants outdoors, and checking for ticks to prevent disease.  WBRC

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, The Tuscaloosa News announced its top bowlers and coaches from the state tournament (voting is open until noon Monday, April 6) as fans can now vote for their favorites.  The Tuscaloosa News
  • Bryce Fowler hit a walk-off double that gave Alabama a 3-2 win over Auburn and clinched its first series win over the Tigers since 2023. The Tide improved to 21-7 with strong pitching from Zane Adams (107 pitches in 6.1 innings).  Tide 100.9
  • On Sunday, Alabama clinched its first series sweep over No. 5 Auburn with a three to one win as a two-run eighth inning broke the tie. The Tide returns Tuesday with a 6 p.m. game in Jacksonville against Jacksonville State — a contest set to boost the season.  Tide 100.9
