  • Tuscaloosa Public Library held its 3rd annual Black History celebration at the Weaver Bolden Branch on Feb. 21. The event featured speeches by local leaders and music by Voices on the Move to honor cultural heritage.  The Tuscaloosa News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Alabama lawmakers introduced Senate Bill 197 to let food trucks get one health inspection & one fire check instead of repeated county inspections. The bill passed unanimously in the Senate and now moves to the House.  Tuscaloosa Thread

HEALTH NEWS

  • State lawmakers are moving bills to remove out-of-pocket costs for prostate cancer screenings for at-risk men and follow-up mammograms for women over 40. Senate Bill 19 plus related measures have passed one chamber — now they need the governor's signature to become law.  WBRC

SPORTS NEWS

  • Alabama’s men’s basketball team beat LSU 90-83 on Saturday, extending their win streak as they vie for a double bye in the SEC tournament (with Aden Holloway scoring 17 and Amari Allen contributing 16).  Tuscaloosa Thread
  • The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team won 11-1 over Rhode Island in Saturday’s doubleheader, completing a series sweep with a run-rule in the eighth inning (freshman Myles Upchurch pitched five shutout innings). The Tide looks ahead to Tuesday’s top-25 matchup at Southern Miss.  Tide 100.9
